Let the Thanksgiving holiday begin. Tom arrived in town last night and the fun started today. The classic walking on the celing is loved by all.

Hawk Attacks

So Monday I came home and went out to the coop to make sure the water and feed were fine and to collect the eggs. I looked out the north window and noticed a clump of feathers so I went out to investigate. There were two chicks (the Little Brown variety) picked clean with only their inners, feathered wings, and clean bones left.
That night we bought a dog chain for Bingo. Tuesday I chained Bingo in the morning out by the coop - no chicks killed. Wednesday she was chained again - success.
This morning I was working on The Chatt so I didn't chain her until I was done...to late. Another chick gone. That stinkin' hawk  swooped in without me noticing (and no, The Chatt is not that riveting). So first thing in the morning Bingo has got to be chained.
Good news: the humming birds have finally found my feeders. Each year I would have 1 or 2 that would come around some, but this past week I have 6+ that zip around all day and roost in the tree right outside the kitchen window. I've taken pictures and will post them later (remember my camera isn't the best and these little guys are fast!).

Updates

While Reed went to the Royals game, Emmy, Abby and Will came to stay all night. On Sunday Abby took control of the dome.The others had to join in on the fun.Just a lot of yapping going on.Plus Mandy tried on my new red boots.

Saturday Activities

The roosters were driving us crazy with the crowing at 4:30am, plus I think their crowing alerted hawks that we had fresh food for the taking (Little Brown and a chick). So onto Craig's List went the roosters and we got a call within a couple of hours. Lucky for Steve, Trevor, Michael, and a friend came up to grill and shoot guns.The other one the caught in the coop so there weren't any fab pictures. The poor grandkids live the hick life and think its great.

We had a wind storm recently so Steve was cleaning up the walnut tree. I don't know if it was that safe.Yes, he pulled a running chainsaw up by an old rope.

Hay days.

Every year we take pictures of everyone with the hay bales. This year my favorite is of Reed jumping. This was Amber's first year enjoying the fun. She and Matt tried 'walking' the bale.

The peaches are about ready to pick. Trevor turns 31.
