It was a dark and dreary day...

...so I decided to update instead of clean. After 7 years of doing wash and sewing (not to mention have the grandkids' playing) in the dungeon aka basement, Steve is finishing it off into actual rooms. There is the storage/furnace room, food storage room, and then the washing, craft, play room.

I don't get why it was never finished (even badly) before, the house was built in 1967. Notice how Steve covered the steel poles, he even put a plug in them so I could have electricity without having to have extension cords all over the floor.

Trevor loves helping with the fun. New insullation is replacing the nasty old stuff. I did catch Steve and Trevor trying to sheetrock over some old stuff.

I found girl legos at a garage sale, Emmy was in heaven. Who knew that was what she really wanted.

Will claimed this $1 find.

Nothing is fun like taking the RV in all its needing to be re-habbed glory out for a spin.

The excitement of a Sunday afternoon never ends.

Trevor and Steve can spend hours discussing new phones. Poor Will is being indoctrinated.

Another day of home improvements. Soon the basement will be worthy of my washer and dryer.

Matt decided he wanted to BBQ chicken after the Jesse James Day mud volleyball tourney. Luckily (?) Ken had 7 roosters he wanted to get rid of.

Six down and one to go. They plucked fairly easily. Then Matt decided to with brauts and hotdogs. 7 frozen chickens in my freezer had to go. 4 went to a big family dinner, 1 to a church friend buying eggs, and two must still be down there chilling out.

Emmy and Reed riding on the roll-back truck. Farm life is full of fun you can't do in the big city.

Another garage sale find.

Abby had chosen the princess one to start with.

Matt is the big 28. 5 + all the individual candles. Mmmmm...carrot cake. Delicious if I do say so myself, and I do.

Emmy and Abby have more garage sale finds on, well, Abby's is kind-of on.

Will is mobile and looking to get in trouble with the markers. All my ironing is now upstairs due to the basement make-over.

Reed doesn't like being around roosters, but can't stay away from the fun. I had 5 roosters that were beginning to crow, I didn't feel like butchering them (I still have the two in the freezer and Matt is working on the basement) so I put them on Craigslist.

The lady who came to pick them up brought a cat taxi and a large shoe box to put them in.

The three in the shoe box were packed in.

I'm chasing the roosters out so Steve can grab them.

Finally Updating

ARGHHHH!!!! I had re-organized the pics and had written about them when my computer went crazy, didn't save any thing and booted me off the internet.
So here goes again.
The end of July -- Reed was off at the drive-in movies, Abby didn't want to stay, and Will is Will. So Emmy stayed over by her-self.
Much fun was had gathering fruit and veggies, playing with the chickens and gathering eggs, and drawing with chalk.

The greatest thing was riding in the RV on a test run around the quarter section. You know, you don't have to wear seatbelts in the RV.
Fun continued the next day by going grocery shopping with Grandma Chibber, getting a cookie and a balloon. Teasing Abby (Mandy rought her and Will up to get the other two) was icing on the cake.
Reed did make it up at midnight to stay all night. Saturday morning he was able to capture one of the wild new chicks. This one should be laying green or blue eggs around Christmas.

Will was starting to crawl at the end of July.

We have a friend that has an ultra-light. He flew over on Sunday (Aug 30) and Steve ran out to wave him in. Steve's mowed a landing strip in the pasture.

Bingo runs out to greet the plane, or attack it, and then users it in.

The kids weren't too sure about it.

Abby did want to ride in it when it came to a stop. Reed and Emmy, not so much. Alas you need to be bigger (for ballance and balast). I decline the fun as does Steve.
Poor Will never gets to have fun.

GDC days 4 and 5

Day 4 of GDC started at the zoo. Everyone made it...even Kate grabbed Steve's shirt and came for the fun.

Will didn't know what to think about being dragged places with this crowd. And I think he was coming down with the sickness.

Reed was still zipping around at this point. The out-back wasn't that bad.

Emmy, Addie, and part of Abby inside something.

Abby working the rope challenge inside what used to be the dairy barn.

Emmy running the stairs.

All of us were starving.

Will takes a break at lunch time.

Inside the what used to be the reptile house.

Walking to Africa. Will is behind Emmy.

Day 5 of GDC was a cook-out/camp-out with the parents.

Bubbles are always a hit.

Abby soaps up her bubble stick.

Putting up the tents for the camp-out.

Lots of help with the tents.

Success.

It was hot out. Abby was waiting to shoot BB guns.

Picking up sticks to make a fire.

The farmer was baling the hay while we ate. The kids then ran out for a photo op.

On top of the hay.

Emmy "jumping off" the hay.

Making smores.

Steve gets the fire back using an ancient fire method.

Yummy!

From here we had singing time and then everyone took down the tents. A few fireworks, more bubbles and everyone left except Trevor, Reed, Emmy, and Abby who "camped-out" in the RV.
