Chicken Drop

No pics (where is a camera crew following you around when you need one) of the fun of capturing 3 hens and dropping them off at the Job's. We have (had) three hens who layed white eggs, but quit laying several months ago. With this weather we've had to keep the coop closed-up several times, and each of those times there would be white eggs in the laying boxes. Those stinkin' leghorns and the one blue must have been laying outside somewhere for months. I finally got fed up with feeding them and not getting eggs so I called Robin aka Chicken Girl Job and asked if she would take them. Her chickens are fenced in not fenced out like ours. She said yes so tonight was the night. It went pretty smooth, although before darkness came Steve wanted to know what we were going to put the hens in since the dog crate was frozen to the ground (and under lots of snow). I said no problem we'll put them in Wal-mart bags; he was skeptical. So I double-bagged three bags and we went to the coop. Since we have heat lamps on its not really dark so the hens don't settle down right away at night. Anyway Steve grabbed the first one and stuffed it in the first bag. She settled down right away amazingly (Wal-mart can't go wrong) and so he went after the other two. Beside one hen laying an egg on the run (not one of the ones we were capturing) and the usual chaos of chickens running crazily, each hen was captured and bagged. We then drove over to the Job's, went in their coop, opened the bags, and the hens scampered out and stood with the other hens there. We'll get Robin's update tomorrow.
