Holiday

Today started out rainy but ended sunny. The chicks are really growing and have yet to be stepped on. In fact, there haven't been any dead chicks in over a week. Neighbor kids came over and chased and caught chicks, as did the grandkids, and various neices and nephew. Ruby has yet to be tested and her interest hasn't lessened in the chicks. Soon we'll see if she can be with them without eating one. All is up in the garden although there are bare spots where some seeds didn't take, or they're deep and still haven't sprouted yet. The asparagus are ferning out. I will have to replant the cucumbers since they haven't rebounded from being eaten by rabbits. A giant toad also likes the garden, but may move on since Reed is bent on playing with him ("making him a pet").
