Ruby, a one year old mix of beagle and boxer joins the farm. Her job is to protect the chickens, not eat them. She has been in the coop - the foyer - and didn't even bark. Next week I'll take her inside with me to get her used to being with chicks.
Emmy and Abby came up today and they are chick gals. Abby loves to throw feed at the chicks and Emmy loves to hold them. They even brought up crocs to wear into the coop.

Ruby huh? I see several problems with the new addition of a dog.
#1.Naming a dog after a family member is questionable.
#2.Dogs are naturally bird hunters, you will take all the fun out of being a dog, by making Ruby protect those chickens.
#3.Beagle dogs are notorious for wandering. Does anyone remember Sammy the dog Joe had in Ex. Springs? That dog was as round as a barrel and wandered constantly. And I know for a fact he was natural hunter. Seen it with my own eyes.
#4.I guess the garden will be ok? Or will the dog dig it up burying her goodies in the dirt. Our Beagle mix was always digging.
#5.This only helps me to win. As I voted for none to be alive at the 4th of July picnic. Go get 'em Ruby!
